Ida Corr is a Danish singer, songwriter, and producer known for her fusion of soul, R&B, pop, and electronic music. Born on March 14, 1977, in Aarhus, Denmark, to a Danish mother and Gambian father, Corr’s musical journey began early. She started drumming at six and formed a band by nine, performing soul classics by artists like James Brown and Aretha Franklin.
Corr gained prominence in Denmark as part of the girl group Sha Li Mar in 2002. Her solo career took off with the release of her debut album Streetdiva in 2005, followed by Robosoul in 2006. However, it was her 2007 collaboration with Dutch DJ Fedde Le Grand on the track “Let Me Think About It” that catapulted her to international fame. The song topped dance charts worldwide, including Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay chart in the U.S., and became one of the best-selling singles by a Danish artist internationally since Aqua.
Throughout her career, Corr has released several albums, including Under the Sun (2009) and Corr Values (2013), the latter reflecting her personal values and musical evolution. She has collaborated with various artists such as Shaggy, Fatman Scoop, and Oliver Heldens, showcasing her versatility across genres.
Beyond her music, Corr served as a judge on the Danish version of X Factor in 2012, further cementing her influence in the Danish music scene. Her dynamic presence and genre-blending style continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
