In the fall of 2012, Mika Vandborg embarked on an exciting journey when he co-founded the rock group “Electric Guitars” with his friend Soren Andersen. This venture added a new dimension to his already illustrious career. 

One of the pivotal moments in Mika Vandborg’s career was in 1999 when he joined the renowned Danish pop band Gnags as their resident guitarist. He played a vital role in the band’s extensive tour in 2000, collaborating with musicians such as Ida Corr. His musical contributions enriched the band’s performances and left an indelible mark on the memories of fans. 

In 2004, Mika Vandborg teamed up with the Danish singer Dicte, showcasing his adaptability as a guitarist by seamlessly transitioning between different musical styles and collaborating with a wide range of artists. 

When the iconic band Love Shop found themselves in need of a guitarist in 2009, they made the natural choice by inviting Mika Vandborg to join their ranks. His contributions to Love Shop’s music were marked by his signature guitar style and exceptional musicianship. 

From September 2011 and for the following year, Mika Vandborg delighted audiences with a series of concerts under the name “Mika Vandborg & Friends.” These performances featured a rotating cast of talented artists, including Mark Linn, Mads Langer, Dicte, and Palle Hjorth. The experience was a testament to Mika Vandborg’s ability to create unique musical experiences by bringing together diverse talents. 

In spring 2012, Mika Vandborg, alongside fellow guitarist Søren Andersen, embarked on the “Guitar Event” tour, a project that laid the foundation for the formation of Electric Guitars. This dynamic duo’s collaboration not only showcased their virtuoso guitar skills but also captivated audiences with their electrifying performances. 

February 2022 marked a significant milestone in Mika Vandborg’s career with the release of his first Danish-language album, “Den Danske.” This album resonated with audiences and displayed his songwriting prowess in his native language. And, in September 2023, Vandborg continued to enrich the musical landscape with his latest album, “Den Evige Toer.” 

Mika Vandborg’s outstanding contributions to Danish music have earned him well-deserved recognition. In 2014, he was honored with the Danish Pop Authors’ “Påskønnelseslegat” (Appreciation Grant), a prestigious award acknowledging his dedication to Danish music and songwriting. His commitment to the Danish music scene and his support of his colleagues have left an indelible legacy.
